The Boolean House – Ommanney st

A house that explores the tool of the ‘Boolean’ within the computer. The entire site and house are examined as a series of additions and subtractions to the existing.

The design looks at the possibilities of the section within a confined site. The development of an internal core of thermal mass through the center of the house allows the surrounding space to be worked as flexible, open plan. By containing a majority of the services within the core, we have been able to design a 3 bed + ensuites, plus a self-contained ‘apartment’ along the southern wall. The spacious double height living opens out to a small courtyard cut into the existing ground level.
