Subiaco pARk

Artwork-by-Abdul-Rahman-Abdullah

Subiaco pARk, to be located at Theatre Gardens in Subiaco, is a sculpture park with a difference.

Subiaco pARk’s unique range of interactive public artworks will be presented using Augmented Reality (AR) technology, experienced via an app on a smartphone or tablet and developed in collaboration with Felix, the innovative architectural design team chosen as Australia’s representatives at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale.

AR involves adding digital content – graphics, sound or animation – to real-world environments, altering what we already see or feel.

The City of Subiaco, with curator Gemma Weston, has invited eight Western Australian artists to develop AR artworks that respond to the landscape, design and architecture of Theatre Gardens. The resulting unique, surprising and complex works will challenge how we use and experience nature, public space and art.

Subiaco pARk will launch on Saturday 7 February 2015 as part of the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival visual arts program.
